Bob Pearlman is a partner in BDO Seidman, LLP’s Assurance Services department, and the partner-in-charge of the firm’s Technology Industry Practice for Southern California.
Having more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Pearlman has provided his expertise to a variety of closely held and publicly held businesses in strategic planning, business consulting, SEC and accounting services. He has been a speaker at a variety of seminars in Southern California relating to accounting issues for growth technology companies.
Prior to joining BDO Seidman, LLP, Mr. Pearlman spent eight years with Arthur Anderson & Co., two years as CFO of a closely held distribution company, six years as the managing partner of Pearlman and Markle, CPAs, and most recently, six years with Grant Thornton LLP where he led the firm’s Technology Practice for Southern California.
During his time with Arthur Anderson & Co., as senior audit manager, Mr. Pearlman was a member of the firm wide High Technology Industry team and co-author of various papers relating to accounting for inventory in a high technology environment. Mr. Pearlman also dedicated time to being an instructor for a variety of Arthur Anderson & Co. training courses, both locally and nationally.
Mr. Pearlman is a past president of the Los Angeles Venture Association {LAVA}, and is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves as vice-chair of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association (VICA), is on the board of directors of the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley and is on the advisory boards of the Central Coast Venture Forum and Professionals Network Group, Inc. He is also a past chairman of the Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Pearlman graduated Summa Cum Laude from California State University, Northridge in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. As a student, he served as the vice chairman of the School of Business and Economics Council, vice president of the Accounting Association, and editor of the CSUN School of Business Administration newspaper.
